Paulo Sultanum
Paulo Sultanum is a pianist, vocalist, arranger, and composer. In Recife, Brazil, he was born to a musical family and started studying piano at age seven. His grandmother was one of his beloved teachers. In 2016 he founded Casulo, a Brazilian Jazz Piano Quartet that has performed in many venues in the Bay Area of San Francisco. In 2019 he released ‘Arrecife’, an EP with original compositions recorded with Brazilian Sambistas. He has been a featured Flower Piano performer for many years. His music is intimate, fun, joyful, and profound.
He is a multi-instrumentalist, playing the piano, his primary instrument, the guitar, and several percussive instruments. He has also performed as a percussionist with Maracatu Pacifico in the Bay Area and parades like San Francisco Carnaval, Pride Parade, and Dia de la Muertos.
